  28. Hi Everybody,
  29.
  30. > My first (and really ONLY) attempt at writing a game was some years
  31. ago,
  32. > making  use of the TOME extension.  Several versions of AMOS and AMOS
  33. PRO
  34. > later, and I find that I can't use TOME any more!  My version of TOME
  35. is
  36. > well out of date (I can't remember what it is off hand, but I DO
  37. remember
  38. > that it's ancient!)
  39.
  40. > Does anyone know how I can get hold of the latest version of TOME
  41. (AMOS PRO
  42. > version!)?  If not, what would be a good if not better substitute?
  43.
  44.     Tome eh? I've never used it myself but I've heard that it's slow and
  45. hard to use, is it? Anyway I'm afraid that I've never heard of an AMOS
  46. Pro version, but you could try using the AmosTurbo extention. It doesn't
  47. have any map commands, but it has /fast/ Icon commands (and other fast
  48. drawing commands) Any I've used these icon commands to write a full
  49. screen scrolling routine that can update at full speed, 50 fps, if you
  50. use sprites and 25fps if you use bobs.
  51.
  52. If anyone wants to see it then I can post a copy onto the list. (it's
  53. quite big though, and *very* complex)
  54.
  55. See ya.

  60. Software suppliers are trying to make their software packages more
  61. 'user-friendly'.... Their best approach, so far, has been to take all
  62. the old brochures, and stamp the words, 'user-friendly' on the cover.
